About Me
I have worked at the San Francisco Rape Treatment Center, San Francisco Youth Guidance Center (Juvenile Hall), Family Court Services, and in private practice. I have a wide range of experience working with people who have suffered from childhood or adult trauma, adjusting to life after divorce, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, depression, and relationship issues.
TEAM CBT
I am a Level 5 TEAM CBT advanced therapist and trainer. Team-CBT was developed by David Burns, MD, a pioneer in the field of cognitive behavioral therapy or CBT, and the author of Feeling Good The New Mood Therapy and Feeling Great. The basic idea behind TEAM-CBT is that if you change the way you think, you can change the way you feel. But unlike classical CBT, TEAM-CBT also incorporates emotional connection.
The TEAM-CBT approach provides faster and longer-lasting results for clients, and the Feeling Great Therapy Center clinicians incorporate this approach with every patient they see.
TEAM is an acronym for:
T = Testing: Clients complete a brief questionnaire before and after each visit, allowing an even stronger therapeutic client-therapist alliance.
E = Empathy: We believe it is critically important to make a connection on a deep level with each of our clients.
A = Assessment of Resistance: This is a powerful motivational tool based on 40 years of research that allows the client to set the therapeutic agenda, and move into the active, problem-solving phase of therapy.
M = Methods: Powerful tools and methods that work for different kinds of problems that clients are experiencing.
